And the winner is …..

As regular readers of our blog will know, back in April we launched our Who Cares Award to find the UK’s most extraordinary carer.  Over the years through our medical conditions travel insurance policies we have helped thousands of people take relaxing breaks, giving them the much needed peace of mind that if something goes wrong, we will look after them.  In creating the Who Cares Award, we have taken that one step further, by recognising those that care, many dedicating their life to help others.
Nominations for the Award closed two weeks ago and Andrew Holt the Editor of Charity Times has had the very difficult job of going through the large pile of nominations to decide a winner and runner up.  When advising us of the winners Andrew said, “Caring is under appreciated within society and the Who Cares Award is a highly welcome innovation. The nominations are of the highest quality, showing what fine work is being undertaken every day. The nominations also show clearly that the Big Society is not just alive and well, but thriving.”
Thanks to Andrew, I am very pleased to announce that the winner of the 2013 Who Cares Award is Richard Sutton, Andrew commented, “Richard has really gone the extra mile: taking a challenging experience and turning his caring to become a positive approach to life and launching two sector organisations to help others in need.”   And our runner up for the 2013 Who Cares Award is Suzanne Addison, Andrew commented, “Suzanne clearly shows an outstanding approach to caring for not one, but two family members, while also helping raising money for charity to help others.”
Many congratulations to Richard and Suzanne, they will be presented with their awards at our Who Cares Award lunch in London on the 12th of June.
