Possible Unrest in Thailand

Should medical conditions travel insurance customers be planning a trip to Thailand in the coming month, they should be aware that National Elections were held in Thailand on 3rd July.  The Thai Electoral Commission has until 2nd August to confirm the election result, and according to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) there could be a risk that political developments may lead to violence. Another Volcanic Ash Cloud Threatens to Close UK Air Space

An ash cloud from the Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland is expected to reach the UK by the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Met Office has said.  The event comes a year after ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano spread across Europe, causing huge disruption.

Icelandic air traffic control has created a no-fly zone around the volcano and cancelled all domestic flights. The country’s main international airport, Keflavik airport, has been closed. Read more

Southern Spain hit by two earthquakes

Following the two earthquakes on 11th May 2011 in the southern Spanish town of Lorca in the Murcia region, UK citizens are being warned of disruption in the region following the deadly earthquake.  The town of Lorca was shook by two earthquakes, with the largest measuring a magnitude of 5.2.Following the natural disaster, at least nine people are said to have died, while a number of buildings have been significantly damaged.  Read more
