With the first significant snow fall of the winter hitting the UK this week, we are all being reminded what fun the snow can be. In London everyone was rushing up to Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath to make the most of the snow, sliding down the hills on everything from bin bags to sledges.
If the snow has encouraged you to book a skiing holiday, you may be a bit late to get something abroad for half term next week, however you could head up to Scotland for a spot of skiing. The heavy snow over the weekend has created lovely conditions, particularly on some of the beginner’s areas. And with the cold weather forecast to continue it looks like the conditions will remain good for the rest on February.
Remember even if you are remaining within the UK for your holiday you will require travel insurance. Our medical travel insurance customers often ask us if they still require winter sports travel insurance if they are only going as far as Scotland. And our answer is always yes, particularly if you are taking part in winter sports. For example, one of the many benefits of a travel insurance policy is accommodation costs for a companion, if you do injure yourself you wouldn’t want to be left on your own in Scotland once your travelling companions have returned home, a travel insurance policy would pay for the accommodation of a companion to remain with you.
So with cover starting from as little as £19 for medical conditions travel insurance to cover a short winter sports break in Scotland it’s definitely worth buying. It’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind the policy will give you.
