As many of our medical conditions travel insurance customers already know, consumption of small amount of dark chocolate daily can reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes, a reduction in blood pressure and a cut in the risk of diabetes. And now today’s headline is music to the ears of anyone buying a travel insurance with medical conditions policy and hoping to slim down a bit before they hit the beach.
This wonderful piece of good news came from research that was carried out by the University of California at San Diego, in a study of cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins. The researchers looked at the chocolate eating habits of 972 men and women with average age of 57, unfortunately they did not record which type of chocolate these people were eating or how much. However, the surprising results found that those who ate chocolate on more days of the week than average were statistically likely to have a lower BMI.
Unsurprisingly the researchers have warned that the study’s findings may not apply to all products containing chocolate and they don’t rule out the possibility that even with a modest daily chocolate consumption some people will still put on weight.
The key here is “a little of what you fancy does you good” so have chocolate every day, but make it a small piece, as cancelling your holiday because you cannot fit into your bikini in no an insurable event, i.e. it won’t be covered under you travel insurance policy!
