Possible Unrest in Thailand

Should medical conditions travel insurance customers be planning a trip to Thailand in the coming month, they should be aware that National Elections were held in Thailand on 3rd July.  The Thai Electoral Commission has until 2nd August to confirm the election result, and according to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) there could be a risk that political developments may lead to violence.

The FCO web site has said that Thai authorities have indicated security may be enhanced in various parts of Thailand against the possibility of unrest and violence, the web site advises avoiding demonstrations and should any violence erupt, remain indoors.  Furthermore, you can set up alerts from the FCO web site which would keep you fully up to date should the situation change in Thailand.
It must be noted that should the situation change and the FCO advise against all but essential travel your travel insurance for medical conditions policy would be invalid should you still carry on with your trip against FCO advice.  Our blog here explains what is classed as all but essential travel.
