For example, Paserela Hotel in Seville, which is classed as a 4-star luxury hotel, has dropped its prices to £30 a night – nearly 50% cheaper than the Ibis on the motorway, according to a Sunday Times report.
However, if you know where to look, hotel and holiday prices can be up to 50% cheaper than ususal, and all the savings can add up. In a market where demand for high levels of luxury are falling over cheaper budget brands who are reigning the top of the hotel and last minute industries.
Industry experts reckon there could be a repeat of the ‘Copenhagen effect’, where throughout the last recession, luxury hotels became involved in a huge price war which saw the prices of luxurious five-star hotels fall to below the prices of three-star ones.
